In 2020, Vanessa's lockdown obsession became taking better care of her skin but she had no idea where to start. She'd text her friends, scour social media, and spend hours researching her endless options only to buy products that either made her break out or caused allergic reactions. Her skin and wallet were tired. Wanting to make the process of buying skincare products easier not only for herself, but for everyone around her - VAIN was born.

Saranya

CTO

Saranya began her career in trustworthy AI at Harvard, researching interpretability and fairness in algorithmic decision-making, before spending three years as a data scientist at Goldman Sachs. Now pursuing her Ph.D. in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon, she specializes in AI security and has published research at top conferences like NeurIPS, ICLR, and ICML, with collaborations at IBM Watson and Scale AI. As CTO, she's building VAIN's AI system to deliver the kind of personalized, trustworthy recommendations that actually work for your skin.
